The pains you describe are not merely limited to the freelance population. Like yourself, many full time employees also must endure the endless and, often times ridiculous, client and/or "senior" creative direction requests.
In order to keep a healthy level of sanity in this business, you simply have to choose your battles carefully and not take ANY of it home with you at night!
